Branson acknowledges peak oil
In an interview with Global Public Media, Sir Richard Branson told journalist David Strahan that aviation could be made “truly sustainable” at the launch of test flight fuelled in part by coconut oil. But the Virgin boss conceded that meaningful supplies of alternative fuel might not be available before the advent of peak oil, which he said could happen within six years.

BC takes lead in climate fight
Everybody talks about global warming, but the government of British Columbia is the first jurisdiction in Canada to take a significant step toward doing something about it. In Tuesday’s provincial budget, Premier Gordon Campbell’s Liberal government introduced the first full-fledged carbon tax in North America, thereby putting a real price on the greenhouse gas emissions that come from burning fossil fuels.
