Housecleaning

May 30, 2009

Let’s re-do the earth, shall we?
You see, there’s this problem with oil
and the worms are dying.

First we list all the bad people
No, wait, that’s been done before

This time let’s listen to the plants
They never lie

Drill some holes in the city
stuff them with TVs

And let’s walk everywhere
to the moon, even.
Now that would be progress!

Here’s an idea from Hindustan or Bali, I forget which.
You take everything you are and everything you own
and put it in piles outside your house.

First you burn one pile.
You are happier.

Then another and another,
until it starts to hurt
and then you stop.

You weigh a lot less. You don’t eat as much.
And your sex life is much improved.

And what about factories?

Here’s my idea (well, actually it’s yours)
We turn them into industrial plants
real plants.

Their leaves follow the sun
the fruit is good to eat
and they don’t make as much noise.
