Think Resilience with Transition Streets!

January 4, 2019

Transition US has teamed up with Post Carbon Institute (PCI) to provide easy and free access of our Transition Streets Handbook (a curated guidebook empowering neighbors with proven actions to conserve energy & water, reduce waste & save money) to winter 2019 Think Resilience course participants.  If you haven’t taken the course, you will need to register for that here. Use the code “THINKTUS” at check-out for $25 off the standard $150 price (also see $1,000 mini grant opportunity below).

Don’t hesitate – the course starts January 10th and runs through February 28th.

Think Resilience is offered by Post Carbon Institute and based on their years of work in energy literacy and community resilience. They’ve packed a lot of information in, and by the end of the course you’ll have a good start on two important skills:

  1. How to make sense of the complex challenges society now faces. What are the underlying, systemic forces at play? What brought us to this place? Acting without this understanding is like putting a band-aid on a life-threatening injury.
  2. How to build community resilience. While we must also act in our individual lives and as national and global citizens, building the resilience of our communities is an essential response to the 21st century’s multiple sustainability crises.

The Think Resilience Guided Course with Transition US includes access to the Think Resilience video lessons (about four hours of viewing), plus weekly, hour-long group webinars with course host Richard Heinberg (Post Carbon Institute). You also get access to full lesson transcripts, suggested follow-up resources, and student discussion forums.

For this special offering of the Guided Course, the first six weekly webinars will include guest speakers from Transition US. The final, seventh webinar will be hosted exclusively by Transition US and will focus on applying the course content to the specific needs of grassroots initiatives. All webinars will be recorded and available for later viewing.

A Certificate of Course Completion is available for students who participate in at least five of the webinars and complete the quizzes given after every few lessons.

MINI-GRANTS AVAILABLE! Transition groups with at least three members who complete the Winter 2019 Think Resilience Guided Course are eligible to apply for mini-grants of up to $1,000 from Post Carbon Institute. Interested? Contact Daniel Lerch (daniel@postcarbon.org) for more details.
