Energy Bulletin today introduces a comments section for individual articles. We hope you’ll find it easy to use and a meaningful addition.
The aim is to encourage a community engaged with solution-oriented responses to the triple challenges of peak oil, climate change and economic contraction.
We are looking forward to respectful and focused debate on the content. Our guidelines are published here, but are really summed up by the words ‘respectful’ and ‘focussed’. Comments will be moderated. Any that are out-of-line will be removed.
Comment threads will only be opened for new articles from today onwards (not legacy content). Once open, the comments thread for each new post will be kept open for two weeks after publication. We are using the Disqus platform which some readers may be familiar with from other sites.
You can hide the comments section if you want:
- Log-in here. (If you don’t have a log-in already, get one here).
- Go to your account (click on “My account” at the top right of any EB page).
- Choose the Edit tab.
- Uncheck the Comments box.
Commenting guidelines
In order to ensure a constructive debate EB editors retain the right to delete comments in order to maintain the integrity of the site. Here are some guidelines for commentators.
- Treat members of the community with civility and respect. In the event that you see disrespectful behavior please report it to the editors rather than further inflaming the situation.
- Personal attacks are not acceptable. Let’s stick to a discussion of the issues.
- Keep your comments on topic and relevant to the article.
- Do not copy and paste complete copyrighted articles without permission from the copyright holder. Limited copying under the doctrine of “fair use” is OK.
- Using comments to promote products and services for sale is prohibited.
As with all changes to EB this is an experiment.
We look forward to hearing from you.
With regards
Simone, Kristin & Bart
