Jim Allen

Jim Allen’s most significant lifetime achievement has been living below taxable income since quitting The Job, effective April Fool’s Day of 1985, resolving to “live simply, that others may simply live.” Otherwise, he has been a serial has-been: a Navy radar and Lockheed missile guidance tech with a degree in mathematics; a college English teacher and poet publishing in literary quarterlies; award-winning agricultural publications editor for Extension in Alabama; co-founder and president of the Alabama Sustainable Ag Network; freelance communications consultant working with Alabama’s three land-grant universities and the Alabama Dept. of Ag; invited speaker (“Climate Change vs Food”) at UU fellowships, civic groups and Sierra Club chapters in Alabama and Georgia; and now-and-then blogger at slowdowndirtytruth.blogspot.com.
