Angela Manno is an artist, activist and educator trained in Byzantine-Russian iconography. Her work is held in the permanent collections of NASA and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum. The Sacred Biodiversity Oracle is published by Bear & Company/Inner Traditions. She divides her time between Findhorn Eco-Village in Scotland and New York City’s Greenwich Village.

Why I paint endangered species as sacred icons
I started painting endangered species the way I once painted saints and angels. Each painting became a kind of prayer and an appeal to our capacity to widen our love and awaken our conscience.
