Alexis Lathem is an award-winning essayist, poet, and journalist, and the author of Lambs in Winter: Sketches of a Vermont Life through Seasons of Change (University of Massachusetts Press, 2025) and three poetry collections. She has received an NEA Creative Writing Fellowship, a Black Earth Institute Fellowship, and other awards. As a journalist, she has covered farming and energy issues, particularly resource conflicts involving Indigenous nations and hydroelectric development. She is the former Communications Director at Rural Vermont, a small-farm advocacy organization.
