Energy Collective: new site for energy discussions

Mark Lazen (managing editor), The Energy Collective
Our Mission

The Energy Collective is a community of policy makers, entrepreneurs, scientists, activists and concerned citizens who are committed to finding ways to meet the world’s growing demand for energy and addressing the looming threat of climate change. Our goal is to provide a forum where the best thinkers on these multi-faceted issues can engage each other and forge areas of consensus that point the way towards a prosperous and sustainable future.

To help us facilitate this crucial debate, we adhere to a few simple principles:

  • We’re inclusive. Every person on the planet needs energy and is impacted by climate change, and all have a stake in successfully meeting the challenges we face. As difficult as it may be for those from industry, government, and environmental activism to find common ground, at The Energy Collective, we believe that our problems will be solved with everyone at the same table, or they won’t be solved at all.

  • We’re civil. In other online communities, environmental activists, policy makers, industry mavens, and technologists have self-segregated because the mix of viewpoints has proven too volatile to be contained within a single forum. But our members are committed to displaying the restraint and mutual respect required to advance this urgent dialogue.
  • We’re rational. At The Energy Collective, prejudices are no substitute for evidence and ideology gives way to facts. Our member-bloggers are some of the most knowledgeable, accredited people in their fields, and they engage each other with razor sharp wits and open minds.

So if you haven’t already joined us, do it now. Register. Blog. Comment.

Be part of the conversation and help set the course for tomorrow’s energy policy today.
