Act: Inspiration

A Love Poem to the Words “What If”

June 25, 2018

As stakeholders of the sustainable energy field gathered in Brussels for the EU Sustainable Energy Week, they had the chance to end the second day of the Policy Conference on an inspirational note.

For its first edition, the ManagEnergy Talk chose to invite serial storyteller Rob Hopkins (UK). Founder of the Transition movement, Hopkins gave insights to how bottom-up actions can have very real impacts through imagination. In his own words, his speech was a “love poem to the words ‘what if’”. For him, imagination is about thinking of a different way that the future could be, which is also the goal of people striving for the energy transition. After watching his intervention through the YouTube link below, we guarantee that you will also start thinking in terms of ‘what if’ and use your creativity to lead the energy transition!

The event was moderated by Christiane Egger, Deputy Manager of OÖ Energiesparverband and Vice-President of FEDARENE. Before welcoming Hopkins to the stage, Christiane Egger had the pleasure and honour to introduce Julien Guerrier, Director of the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (EASME), to give a speech. Mr. Guerrier took advantage of these few minutes to shed light on the work done by REGEA, the Energy Agency of North-West Croatia, and to present preliminary conclusions of the sustainable energy week. “Take the future in your own hands”, he urged. “Continue to lead the energy transition, to share best practices, to take advantage of cross-border cooperation. Energy transition is not only a challenge, it is also a huge opportunity to improve sustainability, social inclusion and job opportunities across Europe”.
