Nicholas Cooke

Nicholas Cooke is a literary nonfiction writer from Newcastle upon Tyne. His writing covers place, memory, culture, and the social life of music, often combining archival research with lived experience. His work focuses on ordinary environments and the meanings people build within them, from regional communities to subcultures and vernacular traditions.  His work has appeared in Oxford American and The Blizzard.
He holds a PhD from Newcastle University and is currently writing a book on musical creativity for Bloomsbury.
