Prosperous Homesteading

March 7, 2017

A homestead can supply a family with all of the essentials: food, fuel, water, shelter and wealth. After being led astray by well-meaning but unhelpful books on homesteading and much trial and error, Greg Jeffers eventually hit upon a winning combination—by looking at his neighbors. This book spells out what exactly you must have in order to establish and operate your homestead. It is based on the only hugely successful homesteading model that exists—the one that is practiced by hundreds of thousands of people across North America. It is essential reading for all those who want to regain their independence and self-sufficiency and to live debt-free.

From the press release:

Shady Grove, Kentucky – Wall Streeter and former Bear Stearns Managing Director and CEO of GT Jeffers & Co, a FINRA Member, quits the biz to farm with horses and live off the land in a region of Amish and Old Order Mennonite families and writes a “how to” book to help (sub)urbanites who might be interested in changing their way of life.

In 2006 my family and I bought a homestead in the mid south. For the first 3 years we did everything wrong. Then a chance meeting with a “horse and buggy”, Old Order Mennonite family changed everything. We studied the economic strategies they employ that have allowed them to pass on their way of life, generation after generation. For the past 8 years we have steadily moved our living arrangement closer and closer to their way of life. Our water comes from rainwater and a well, most of our food comes from our gardens and barnyard, all of our heat and hot water comes from the firewood we collect from our woodlot.

Financial pressure is nonexistent.

I wrote a book, “Prosperous Homesteading”, to help people who might be interested in a different life than the life most Americans tend to imagine and named it after our amazing lifestyle.
