Imagine Transition activists beginning to redefine ourselves as We the People, with the inherent right to govern ourselves where we live. Imagine us turning our Energy Descent Action Plans (EDAP’s) into rights-based local ordinances with ten-year locally enforceable timelines for full implementation. The Community Rights movement has already helped more than 200 communities in eight states to realize that they in fact do have the RIGHT to a Sustainable Energy Future, the RIGHT to a healthy climate, the RIGHT to clean water and a local food system, the RIGHT to a sustainable infrastructure, etc. As locally enforceable laws! YOUR community could do this! More about Community Rights HERE.

Speaker Bio: Paul Cienfuegos is a nationally prominent workshop leader and community organizer in the Community Rights movement, which works to dismantle corporate constitutional so-called “rights” and assert the people’s inherent right to govern themselves and protect the community’s health and welfare. Paul has some very provocative ideas about how Transition could rapidly expand its impact across the US by teaming up with the Community Rights movement and its ongoing success in helping more than 200 communities to successfully pass locally enforceable laws that transition us away from unsustainable energy and resource depletion and towards our RIGHT as We the People to a sustainable future. Paul recently co-founded Community Rights US to further this work nationally. More info at www.CommunityRights.USand www.CommunityRightsPDX.org/podcast .
