Roger Higman

Roger Higman is passionately interested in creating a truly green, sustainable civilization in the UK and abroad. He believes that putting wellbeing at the heart of social progress is vitally important if we are to create a world in which everyone’s needs are met within the planet’s natural limits. Roger joined the Network of Wellbeing team in late 2014 to take on a leading role in developing our strategy. Roger has over 25 years’ experience of campaigning on environmental issues, including locally nationally and internationally on issues as diverse as climate change, biodiversity, economics and society. As a Campaigns Director for Friends of the Earth, Roger was responsibile for integrating the organisation’s messages on economics, justice and environmental limits in a coherent whole. Roger also teaches at Plymouth University and is a Director of the Flameworks Creative Arts Facility in Plymouth, where he lives with his partner, Karen and her three daughters. He is at his happiest exploring the countryside with Karen or working his allotment with his brother, Joe. Contact Roger: roger@networkofwellbeing.org

How the Share Shed in the UK is Building Community

The Network of Wellbeing with support from the Big Lottery Fund helped launch the Share Shed Totnes in Devon, U.K., this year. It acts as a “library of things,” a place where people can borrow tools and other equipment that they need. These are all things that people might not be able to afford or want to buy.
