Jessica Mathews

Jessica Mathews is a dedicated bicycle advocate and Placemaking Leadership Council member passionate about creating safer and more livable streets. At one of her jobs as Outreach Program Coordinator for the local bicycle nonprofit Consider Biking, she eats, sleeps, and breathes creating a convenient and more accessible multimodal city for everyone (anyone that knows her can attest to this). Jess obsessively believes that streets must be shifted back to “people-priority” instead of “auto-priority”. Her focus has mainly been on empowering and educating women and girls about the benefits of the bicycle and Placemaking. She strongly believes that when there are more women and girls riding bikes on a regular basis, the more “normal” the bicycle will be viewed here in America.

For more Jess, you can check out her TEDX Columbus talk entitled Indicator Species. She continues to pursue making Columbus a better place for everyone through the Columbus Parklet Project and Open Streets Columbus, and is hoping to head to Copenhagen this spring to bring back even more cycling information (and passion) to her city.
