Peter McCoy

I started studying mycology and mushroom cultivation over 12 years ago. What began as a self-guided passion in my younger years has since developed into a life-long devotion to the fungal kingdom and educating the world about its amazing ability to heal the bodies, minds, and ecosystems of the planet.

In 2006 I co-founded the Radical Mycology project with Maya Elson with a focus on teaching the simplest, cheapest, and most effective methods of mushroom cultivation for the purposes of food sovereignty, medicine production, community-scale remediation (aka pollution clean up), sustainable living, and beyond. I believe that fungi can not only help humans on an individual level but that they also provide powerful solutions to such global issues by increasing food availability, alleviating poverty, curing chronic disease, improving soil fertility, and cleaning polluted water systems.

As a mycological instructor, I have presented and taught about Radical Mycology & mushroom cultivation in the US and Canada and at events such as The Telluride Mushroom Festival, The Amazon Mycorenewal Project’s Art and Science of Mycorenewal course, The Northwest Permaculture Convergence, The Village Building Convergence, and the Occupy Solidarity Social Forum. Click these links for a listing of my upcoming workshops & cultivation courses.

Currently, my mycological efforts are focused in researching and writing for the Radical Mycology Book, developing low-cost, safe, and effective remediation protocols, and pursuing a degree in mycology from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA.

I am available for private consultation and training for people and organizations on a sliding scale basis. Please contact me at radmycology [at] gmail [dot] com for more info.
